Outbreak in Gotham

Image from Warner Bros. Dark Knight

So what will I do with all these Batman figures? Play the Batman miniatures game? Maybe. What I will do with all these Batman figures is play a rather insane ATZ campaign I'm calling Outbreak in Gotham. The ATZ Final Fade Out campaign with a decidedly Gotham City twist.  In the full Final Fade Out campaign the outbreak has just begun everyone is a civilian and know one can tell who is a zombie until they are up close.  I now have over a dozen batman figures in this game they'll be mystery PEF tokens not to be revealed until a figure gets within Rep in inchs of the Batman.  The the Batman is removed and a Human or Zed encounter is revealed. That's just the first 21 days, after that  society really starts breaking down and all characters choose to become a survivor or a ganger.

This is the part I find inspiring all my gangers will batmaesq like the Sons of the Batman pictured above or the Red Hood Gang pictured below. Not to mention the classic Street Demonz.
DC Comics
DC Comics No Mand's Land
All though there never been a Joker street gang I can't help but create one. The below image was taken from the internet and its fantastic.

Zombtober 2015 Week 3 A day late but hopefully not a dollar short...

Live by the cross.... well he didn't die from one but not for lack of trying. (Sorry Padre) The Padre miniature by Lead Bones.
Bob was an actuary for a life insurance company a statistical annalist. The sheer statistical improbability of a zombie apocalypse broke his mind. Now its Bob and his trusty ginsu knife (guaranteed for a lifetime) against the chaos. (Bob is a Hasselfree figure I started painting back in 2009. I still feel I got him wrong especially the face. I might do him over again some day.)

Astute readers will notice I missed a week of Zombtober I hope to make it up in the beginning of November.

This is a smuggled phone photo of the Lunatic and I using our super high tech ATZ table planning method at his lair. Don't tell anyone.

Qick Trip in the Way Back Machine

Work is beating me senseless a the moment, I don't know how many hours I've worked this past weekend. During Zombtober no less!!! There is no respect for the dead I tell you! I had dug up some photos of my ATZ set up from Way Back in 2009! As you can see Harely gets all the cool rides. And here are a few WIP test shots of unfinished miniatures and more of my ATZ vehicle fleet.

Urges

Urges we all have them some are dark and some are some are just twisted (Ray???). An urge has come upon me one which I have not experienced for a long time. An urge to play a game of ATZ
(All Things Zombie). I am painting up some modern survivors as Stars for the 2 to 4 people who will play Halloween weekend. I'll be dragging out card terrain made back in 2009 for ATZ. That's right Gentle Readers I'll be taking a little spin in the way back machine to the time I first discovered wargame blogging! That's right I'm going wargame!!!!

Not Really a Horde More Like a Crowd

As you can see 16 figures is not much of a horde and most of it remains unpainted to boot. I have a handful more of unbased zombies in the bins but I'll have to acquire many more before they resemble anything that can be called a true horde. So far the "horde' consists of Westwind, Lead Bones, Studio, Wyrd and Horrorclix figures.
ATZ is a game of characters not factions in ATZ players play a "star" character who leads an ever shifting band of "grunts", other survivors who look to the "star" for leadership or even hope through the zombie Apocalypse.  So with this in mind I've been gathering a cast for the Zombie Incident of 1888 which will include; Her Majesty, the Great Detective and the Dr., the Gentleman from Norwich, Sister Agnes Zombie Hunter, Sir Francis, the dog Buttons, Jim the milk lad, the White Rabbit, Roundhouse Ray the Prizefighter and Professor Pratt just to name a few. Some of the characters mentioned about will be heroes others villains while more will be innocent bystanders or victims if you prefer. I want this project to be a showcase of sorts of the Gothic Horror/Steam Punk miniatures I've been collecting for the past 2 years so the Werewolf of London and other oddities will make appearances in the game.
Left to right the dog Buttons, Jim the milk lad, Professor Pratt.

Victorian Zombie Sources

More West Wind zombies.
Now that I've decided on my project I took a moment to look up "Victorian zombies" on Google not much comes up other than this DC graphic novel and this ridiculously cheesy hoax. That's what happens when you have a population of idiots who never read a book in their lives. Make a Google image search of "Victorian Zombies" and you'll get images of the fine West Wind zombie box set, various cos-players and Clint. Not actually an image of a zombie Clint* an image of the Foundry Undead Cowboys he painted.

I will give you my readers two Victorian Zombie sources I've actually found useful. The first is a thread on Lead Adventurers Forum Zombie Hunting with Style by Papa Midnight and the second is this interesting article from the Utah Children's Writers. In addition to these sources I feel when one is considering the Zombie Apocalypse one must consult the one and only definitive source Dawn of the Dead by George A Romero.

I feel that the only way to get that post Apocalypse feel for Victorian London it to have smashed carriages, overturned costamonger carts and corpses littering the streets.  The new Roadkill limited addition release by Johnny Borg Castings formally of Mega Miniatures has solved my dead horses dilemma the decomposed horse looks like its served as a feast for zombies. Besides nothing says the fall of the British Empire like a dead bulldog. The goat, sheep and mermaid corpses will become Pirate gaming objective markers. Flat rate $10 world wide shipping will be a steal for non Americans.

*This blog can't definitively claim that Clint is or is not a zombie so for legal purposes this blog urges anyone encountering Clint on the street should proceed with caution.

The Past Becomes The Future

Zombies from the West Wind EOTD Zombie Box Set painted by me.
Let me tell a story from the past; it was 2009 as many of you recall Zombie Apocalypse gaming was all the rage that's when I first began to check out wargaming blogs on blogger. I started following a then little know blog called vampifans world of the undead where I found out about WWG printable card buildings and a zombie wargame that could be played cooperatively or even solo called All Things Zombie (ATZ) by an American company called 2Hour Wargames. I played this game using die cast cars and printed card buildings just the way you see Bryan playing it on his blog above it was a blast!

When West Wind Miniatures put out there box set of Victorian Zombies naturally I had to have them. (You can get them too direct from West Wind here.) I purchased one along with the other EOTD boxes sets as soon as they became available. The boxed set was for EOTD to represent the 10 model Zombie Mob that some factions could purchase in the game. This notion of Victorian Zombies stated rattling around in my head I'd bang my head against the wall in an effort to dislodge it but I just couldn't get this idea out of my head. The name of a Victorian Zombie project popped out of my head "The Zombie Incident of 1888" I blogged about it and even came up with a survivor concept you can see here. But these were just fragments really a vague notion that I would add random zombies to my EOTD games. That wasn't the idea rattling around in my head I can't contain it any longer I'm just going to let it out and act on it. The idea in my head is a full on Victorian Zombie Apocalypse.

PS I've added Colgar6's fine blog to my roll I don't know how I missed it.
