Outbreak in Gotham

Image from Warner Bros. Dark Knight

So what will I do with all these Batman figures? Play the Batman miniatures game? Maybe. What I will do with all these Batman figures is play a rather insane ATZ campaign I'm calling Outbreak in Gotham. The ATZ Final Fade Out campaign with a decidedly Gotham City twist.  In the full Final Fade Out campaign the outbreak has just begun everyone is a civilian and know one can tell who is a zombie until they are up close.  I now have over a dozen batman figures in this game they'll be mystery PEF tokens not to be revealed until a figure gets within Rep in inchs of the Batman.  The the Batman is removed and a Human or Zed encounter is revealed. That's just the first 21 days, after that  society really starts breaking down and all characters choose to become a survivor or a ganger.

This is the part I find inspiring all my gangers will batmaesq like the Sons of the Batman pictured above or the Red Hood Gang pictured below. Not to mention the classic Street Demonz.
DC Comics
DC Comics No Mand's Land
All though there never been a Joker street gang I can't help but create one. The below image was taken from the internet and its fantastic.

Zombtober 2015 Week 3 A day late but hopefully not a dollar short...

Live by the cross.... well he didn't die from one but not for lack of trying. (Sorry Padre) The Padre miniature by Lead Bones.
Bob was an actuary for a life insurance company a statistical annalist. The sheer statistical improbability of a zombie apocalypse broke his mind. Now its Bob and his trusty ginsu knife (guaranteed for a lifetime) against the chaos. (Bob is a Hasselfree figure I started painting back in 2009. I still feel I got him wrong especially the face. I might do him over again some day.)

Astute readers will notice I missed a week of Zombtober I hope to make it up in the beginning of November.

This is a smuggled phone photo of the Lunatic and I using our super high tech ATZ table planning method at his lair. Don't tell anyone.

The Zombie Incident of 1888: The Story

Lascar sailors working on a ship docked in London harbor.
The Zombie Incident of 1888, as many of you readers know, has been a part of this blog for years now. In an attempt to organize what's been swirling around in my head in a semi-organized manner I've started a thread on LAF to try to tell the story of The Zombie Incident of 1888. Please take a look.

I'm going to try to get a few figures polished off today for tomorrow's post.

Urges

Urges we all have them some are dark and some are some are just twisted (Ray???). An urge has come upon me one which I have not experienced for a long time. An urge to play a game of ATZ
(All Things Zombie). I am painting up some modern survivors as Stars for the 2 to 4 people who will play Halloween weekend. I'll be dragging out card terrain made back in 2009 for ATZ. That's right Gentle Readers I'll be taking a little spin in the way back machine to the time I first discovered wargame blogging! That's right I'm going wargame!!!!

Zombtober 2015

Yes gentle readers its Zomtober! The time for zombie festivities and here at Fiends in Waistcoats that means painting zombies!!!!  I'll be expanding the Victorian Zombie hoard and, if I have time, finish off some characters for ZI. Fist I'm taking stock of the current sat of the horde err small gather pictured above. Now let's look at the figures I have half done that have been laying about in need of attention. If I get half of these finished off it will be a productive month. Here are the zombies awaiting paint.

Something for the Modern Zombie/Cold War Gamer

This is the 26th St. Armory build in 1904 it's the home of the 165th NY National Guard Battalion. The 165th was partially deployed during the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and I believe provides the National Guard troopers currently stationed at Penn Station, Grand Central and a few other transit hubs since then. For all you Zombie gamers the 165th troops are deployed with minimal kit a canteen and a pistol.
Many of the 165th's vehicles are parked on the street around the Armory. As you can see from the first two shots many of the National Guard vehicles still sport the woodland camo all US vehicles were painted with during the cold war. You will not that the newer vehicles are painted in a basic tan.

The Fiends in Waistcoats Guide to Victorian Zombie Miniatures

As you are now doubt aware of my Victorian zombie project and many of you may like Bob The Zombie Dude's (hope you like your new title Bob) wonder how will I get "Victorian" zombies?
I thought I'd take a moment to show you dear readers the growing number of Victorian Zombie miniatures on the market today. Now I'm qualifying "zombie miniature" as the classic shambler type there are a number of armed undead cowboy miniatures on the market but they don't fit my zombie definition so they are not included here. I'll update this when more figures become commercially available over time.

Zombtober 2014 First Week Mission Fail

Well printing out the backgrounds didn't go as planned it came out with streaks and is unusable. And I found a really nice one too! I'll try to get it printed as a photo at Walgreens for this Sunday. Sadly there were some personal issues that prevented me from getting any painting in this week but there will be zombies this Sunday (at least one).

Once again I'd like to welcome two new Google+ followers to the blog,

Llaman Llama of the wonderful blog Liama's War of the Ring Llama is a follower of my 2nd blog Slumming in Goblintown and Gerald M. Gerald is active in the Google "history" community I don't know much about these,  I'm not aware that he has a blog if you do please let me know.

Preperations for Zombtober 2014

With this current employment I'm working every weekend day but despite this I've managed to glue sand & stones to the Werewolf of London's base and coat Jim the Milk Lad in watered down PVA (he's Arifix style plastic). This weekends weather is very mild so I've gotten 7 figures primed 5 zombies and 2 special characters for the Zombie Incident of 1888. I expect to have the Werewolf & Jim primed this week so that will bring my primed figures for Zombtober 2014 up to 8 zombies and 8 survivors/special characters. I also have 3 half painted zombies left over from Zombtober 2013 I know that makes me a lazy git, which bring this years zombie total to 12. This is my goal for Zombtober 2014 19 figures not much compared to many of you guys but realistically the most I'll accomplish this October.

I might try a photographic background for the finished zombie pictures do any of these grab you as a background?

Toten-Soldat East Prussia late in the Great Occult War

By the end of the war only companies Toten Soldat, of soldiers specially trained to combat the undead, dared to enter the ruins of Eastern Prussia.

Ladies and Gentlemen please vote in the poll displayed in the upper right hand corner of the blog. I'm still working on what form a Patreon thread could take if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to comment below or email me directly.

As slow as a shambler

Work on the horde and associated characters for The Zombie Incident of 1888 is moving slower than a shambler but there is some small progress. As you may have noticed I'm trying to clean up, convert & based  all the figures I've got earmarked for this project so far that's 40+. Hopefully things will start speeding up (or at least look like they are) once I've gotten some of these ready for priming. And I'm going to need to get a move on as I've just placed an order for the Warlord Games Plastic box set.
24 more figures for use in zombie conversions and some as anti-zombie forces which will need to be cleaned up, converted & based!!!!

This is the bride from the Studio Miniatures "Till Death Us Do Part" set she is getting her dress Victorianized (Yup made a new word.) the bustle is beginning to shape up, I need to do something with the veil though maybe give her one of those tiny hats? Well what do you think of the progress?

Mr Cross in the back is by the irrepressible scallywags of Lead Bones he's a modern vicar get the joke?  I think with a slight re-sculpt of the collar I can paint him up as a laborer (no offense Padre).
Zombie Nun also by Lead Bones no conversion needed.
Little boy zombie from the same Studio Miniatures "Till Death Us Do Part" set. You can never have enough zombie children in a horde.
The "Hopper" is a leftover from a long defunct project he is a "Hanged Man" ghost(?) figure from Wyrd Miniatures originally he was floating above the earth but I bent the feet so that he's now hopping along as it where. He is all tied up and still has a noose around his neck maybe someone took the law into their own hands and tried to end his life before they realized he was all ready dead? There is a story in it somewhere when I find it I'll let you know. Stay tuned for more progress next Sunday.

This blog isn't even 2 years old yet but its now over 20,000 hits this is due entirely to all you nice people following my miscue efforts. This blog would have most certainly been abandoned were it not for those of you who post comments so thank you. And speaking of thank yous I'd like to give a warm thank very much to all these Google Plus followers who I haven't thanked before:
Julia Morgan, Congtan Huynh, CJ Kilbride, Tom Candlin, Matt Eastwood, Kevon Downs, Fred Jackson, James Baldwin, Stephan K, Bullcher Feb, Ken Reilly, Mark G, Danny Jeurissen, Shay O'Shea, Uber Toten, Alexander Noorlander and Thrym of Thrym's Table now on the blog roll her at Feinds in Waistcoats.  I suspect that even with this new list I've overlooked someone if that is the case I'm sorry.
